The Annual Godric Way Ride took place on Sunday in glorious weather. This year saw the start from Bungay Library instead of the Butter Cross because it included a sponsored ride for the newly named Community Library and it was the first fund raising event .
Bungay Town Mayor Terry Reeve welcomed riders and wished them a safe ride. Also present was Suffolk county councilor David Ritchie (a keen cyclist), Town Reeve John Warnes, and Godric C.C. chairman Jim Caplin.
Sylvia Knights, a number of library staff and a group of library volunteers were also there to see the riders off and to prepare refreshments for them at the finish – for which everyone was very grateful.
It was also great to see several new faces with a growing interest in cycling.
Sponsor monies should be in by the end of July when there will be an announcement from the library fundraisers. Thanks also to any riders who donated on the day.
