We organize a weekly club ride where all are welcome.
Subject to road and weather conditions, and to demand, we normally ride as three groups. A standard group rides at an average 13 – 15 mph, the intermediates at 15 – 17 mph and the fast group at 17 – 19 mph. Each group rides at the pace of it’s slowest rider – we never leave anyone behind!
For most of the year we meet at Bungay Buttercross at 9:00am, though in winter months we meet at 9:30am to make avoiding icy roads easier.
We aim to publish routes in advance on this site in the events section, through the club’s Strava group and on the club’s facebook page.
Rides generally arrive back at Bungay at between 12.00 and 2.00 p.m.

What should I bring with me?
It is a good idea to bring a spare inner tube, pump, multi tool, money (for cafe stops!), mobile phone, food and a drink.
What do I need to wear?
You need to wear clothing that is suitable for the conditions. We are not worried about people having the latest ‘kit’ or spending thousands. We welcome the rider, not what they are wearing!
If you are new to cycling and are not sure about what to wear or want some advice get in touch with us and we might be able to help. We all started as beginner riders.
Do I need to wear Club Kit?
You can wear whatever you like! If you want to wear your trade kit, club kit, or something that you’ve bought that is fine! Just make sure that you are going to be comfy and what you wear will be suitable for the conditions.
“You don’t need to be a member to try a club run”
Do you ride if it is raining?
Yes! We ride in all weathers. If the ride needs to be cancelled due to dangerous conditions then we contact regular riders via telephone. Cancellations are also posted on this website, facebook and our Strava group
How long do you ride?
Our Sunday rides vary from 35-50 miles depending on the route and conditions.
Do you have a break?
Yes, we normally have a stop for a break at a cafe just after half way. Lots of our members are experts on the cafes of Suffolk and Norfolk!
What if I can’t keep up?
We don’t leave people behind and we make sure that we keep the group together. If you find that the group you have chosen to ride with is not the best fit for your ability, then it is easy to change groups at the cafe stop.
Can I just turn up on the day?
Yes, we meet at the Bungay Buttercross at 9:00 in the summer and at 09:30 in the winter. Just make yourself to one of the members and let them know that you want to join the Godric Sunday Ride and you will be made welcome.
If you can let us know before the day by dropping us an email it us helpful as we can look out for you (and your bike) and also answer any questions you might have before the day!
I don’t have an expensive bike!
That doesn’t matter. As long as your bike roadworthy that is the most important thing. As a club we are here for cyclists and to ride not to rate bikes and kit!
We meet at the Buttercross in Bungay.
