We offer a wide range of rides for our members during the year:
- Sunday ride
- Fast ride group
- Leisure rides
- Beginner rides
The Sunday Ride group meets at the Bungay Buttercross every Sunday at 9.30 a.m. in December, January and February, and at 9.00 a.m. throughout the rest of the year. We usually ride as three groups at differing speeds to suit the preference and ability of the riders. The routes are planned so that all groups should meet at a cafe stop at about the half-way point. This is usually at about 11.00 a.m. The average speed is 13-15mph for the standard group, 15-17mph for the intermediates and 17-19 mph for the fast group. Depending on conditions and numbers present groups may be amalgamated, but we always ensure that all are able to ride at a pace that suits them. Nobody is left behind, and it is easy to swap between groups at the cafe stop if necessary. Routes are usually in the 40 to 50 mile range, and are usually published in advance in the events section of this site, through the club’s Strava group and on the club’s facebook page. If a ride has to be called-off, perhaps through dangerous road conditions, then notice is given through the same channels.
Leisure rides take place in the Spring and Summer and average 10-12mph. They normally include a stop for lunch or cafe stop, they also include the annual summer solstice ride. These rides are suitable for all – you can complete them on any roadworthy bike.
Our beginner rides take place during the summer and are one hour rides for people who are interested in getting back into cycling or perhaps haven’t been on a bike for while. You can come along on any bike. We ride to the slowest rider and we never leave anyone behind.
Club runs normally start at 9:00am except during the winter (December, January & February) when they leave at 9:30am.
